I have good memories of a visit to the tea room some years ago, so was looking forward to going back. Sometimes that is a mistake…
We had walked from Helmsley on a hot sunny afternoon, so were well ready for a drink and something to eat. By mid afternoon, the cake selection was a bit restricted – gluten free carrot cake, lemon drizzle and Bakewell tart along with pre wrapped cookies and flapjacks (which I don’t count as ‘cakes’!). I had the gluten free carrot cake which was nice. Prices were probably on the expensive side compared with elsewhere in the area.
There was a reasonable selection of fizzy drinks, all in glass bottles.
Everything was served on paper plates or cups. The tea came with a wooden stirrer – presumably part of their covid precautions.
We took our food to eat outside in the sunshine. I was surprised there was no obvious recycling for empty bottles or paper and plastic. I did ask about this but got blank looks.
I would only rate the experience as OK this time….
