Spent 2 nights at the Richmond Hill Hotel over Christmas. Very disappointed and I wouldn’t recommend it. This hotel is not cheap but with expensive add-ons it isn’t good value for money. Hotel was not full and many people were parking on the road outside, yet I was charged £8 per night to use a disabled parking space (+£16). If you eat as much as you can, the full breakfast is good value, but my wife only had toast and coffee, which also cost £12.50 each day as there is no continental breakfast rate (£25 for 2 coffees and toast).

Our room was small by modern standards with only a standard double bed. However even though all internal walls had been removed it was still cramped. The wash basin was in the room while the toilet and shower were in glass boxes – maybe not to everybody’s liking. Unfortunately in order to maximise space sound proofing appeared to have been left out. Room was very noisy. Could hear TV, talking, arguing, snoring, lovemaking etc from adjacent rooms. Even worse was the noise from the space saving sliding wardrobes. We had 2 sleepless nights.

Accessibility within the hotel was terrible. Although we were given a room next to a lift, to and from the breakfast room involved going up/down 52 steps. It was actually better to go out of the front door and drive down to the restaurant door.

The key selling point of this hotel is undoubtedly its proximity to Richmond Park but unless you want to go dog walking I would suggest giving it a miss. For our 3rd night we went elsewhere. Much bigger room, and bed, for half the price (including parking and breakfast) and much quieter. Really good night’s sleep. Where was this? Keep reading TripAdvisor.
