If you are looking for something to do with your grandchildren in school holidays can I recommend checking the activities available at RHS Harlow Carr. I have just spent a delightful day there with my grand children. We joined in a scarecrow making workshop, which I enjoyed as much as the children, then off to the other end of the garden to make bird feeders from pine cones! The children then spent time playing in a wooden house and had great fun trying to find each other in the maze. They also loved the bird hide where we were able to see lots of different birds feeding. There are plenty of places to eat a picnic, including an indoor area if it's raining. There is a large Betty's cafe if you want a delicious lunch and there is a smaller outlet which sells snacks, hot drinks. The whole place is wonderful and well worth a visit.
