We stayed at the Renaissance Barcelona Fira between 3rd and 6th May. The Hotel is in an outlying commercial district and was one of several tower block buildings in the area. We stayed on the 20th floor and the view from the room was amazing. The Hotel is built as two towers and are connected by a stairway down the middle. As you exit your room it feels like you are stepping outside even though you are protected from the elements. There are about five lifts which zoom between floors … and I mean zoom. Breakfast was included and it was plentiful. Ranging from fruits, yoghurts, through pastries, cold meats, cheeses and also including cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, hash browns etc.. A chef was on hand to cook eggs to order any way you liked them. The staff were brilliant and could not be more helpful both in the restaurant and at reception. There is an 'indoor pool' but it was tiny and a roof top pool which was unfortunately not open during our stay. The hotel is quite far out from La Rambla etc but the underground sustem was brilliant. On the advice of the receptionist we purchased a couple of 10 trip tickets and this lasted four of us three days … you can share the ticket. To get to the touristy areas took about 25 minutes and involved one change. The area is very modern and across the road is an IKEA and a bit further on is a lovely shopping mall so if you tire of the crowds you can enjoy a pretty quiet shopping experience.
