The old tourist information building in front of the library on Lord Street is now a café and gin joint – Remedy. They bill themselves on Facebook as having 34 craft gins and 36 fine malt whiskies; however we went for a mid-morning coffee – mine was a latte machiato – and it was delicious. As the building is like a conservatory – all glass – all the seats are like window seats. You can sit in an oasis under the huge old trees and watch the hustle and bustle of Lord Street pass you by.
The next time I’m in Southport in June, I’ll be checking out the gin festival – and the food, that looks good too.
