The hotel is nice but a bit far out of the centre of town though if fine it’s a pleasant stroll. The hotel is a bit dated, although the bedrooms are of a good size with a nice comfy bed, and plenty of wardrobe space with usual tea / coffee making facilities. The bathroom was nice with a lovely Jacuzzi bath. For more infirm visitors there is also a lift. The staff we saw were all very friendly & helpful. The breakfast was very good, pots of tea & coffee, cereals porridge and fruit & the cooked one was done to your taste, with plenty of toast. All served to you by the waitresses. In most hotels you usually help yourself to the cold menu but here if you get anywhere near that table the waitresses pounced on you saying sit down we serve you. !!! I think they’ve had too many people getting doggy bags for lunch!!!
The hotel says they have a swimming pool but it is really just a splash pool & they don’t provide robes or slippers. The evening meal was not the best, it was 3 courses for a set price, the starter was ok, but our mains chicken in a mushroom sauce & roast lamb were both extremely overcooked quite dry & tasted like they were made some time ago. The desserts, the trifle was quite unpleasant with hard apple in the bottom & the apple pie was mainly tough pastry with no custard or cream. Everything considered we could possibly stay again, but would not have an evening meal, however I very much doubt that we would have a need to as Scarborough is quite a dreary place with absolutely no nice bars or restaurants.
