The Railway has tried hard to meet the needs of disabled passengers, but facilities at intermediate stations are very basic and some only have foot access.
There is good disabled access to Ravenglass and Dalesgarth Stations and their cafe and shop as well as the Museum at Ravenglass. There is disabled parking at both stations as well as a disabled toilet.
Carriages are small and the ‘closed’ carriages can be difficult to get in or out of foir anyone with mobility problems (or anyone who is overweight as the door in very narrow). The open carriages are much easier.
The railway does have wheelchair adapted carriages, but they have to be booked in advance. A carer travels free. There is also wheelchair hire available at Ravenglass and Eskdale.
Their full accessibility statement can be read “here.”:https://ravenglass-railway.co.uk/downloads/
