We booked this holiday at the last minute and were somewhat dubious about the trip as the reviews seemed to vary considerably. We arrived at the airport and had a rather hair-raising trip to Marawila by taxi. The main road from the airport along the west coast of the island is frantically busy with, tuk-tuks, taxis, buses, motor-bikes, bicycles and people and not much road-sense. We arrived at our destination and had to cross the river by ferry to get to the village. It was like stepping into a different world. The peace, the quiet and the village itself just swept us away. The accommodation was fantastic – we had paid the extra for a superior sea facing bungalow and it was well worth it. The whole village is eco-designed and eco-friendly and each bungalow powered by its own solar panel. The facilities were excellent, the swimming pool great, not overcrowded and no towel saving of loungers-bliss. The beach was quite busy with guests although the ocean was somewhat rough for our liking. The food -although buffet-style- was the best we have experienced for some time and the menu was varied and the food was replenished well before it ran out!
The evening entertainment was somewhat lacking but we were not too bothered as we tend to go to bed early with a good book. Take care – the all inclusive option does not include wine as we found to our cost!
We would certainly return in the future and would highly recommend it but not to people who want lots to do.
