Designed as an exotic jungle that recreates the sights and sounds of the Amazon rain forest the rain forest cafe is great for kids.
It has the noises of a real rain forest like monkeys in trees and parrots screeching through the sky.
Fake thunder storms and the sound of waterfalls adds to the atmosphere, and the food is pretty good too.
You do need to book as it gets very busy, I exchanged a virgin experience voucher for our visit, which does have some restrictions.
You can`t go on a Saturday and have a more limited menu which seems harsh considering the voucher cost £82.
When you enter the cafe from the street you go straight into the shop, there is no way of avoiding this as the cafe itself is downstairs. There is no lift so it is not suitable for people with limited mobility. The tables are quite close together too.
We didn`t have to wait past our booking time, and once seated the children were given paper and colouring pencils. The food is good with good size helpings and the service is good.
The place is freezing though and we were wearing our coats by desert.
We walked along Regent Street when we left the cafe on our way to Winter wonderland in Hyde Park. We saw the fabulous Hamley`s Christmas window display and the beautiful Angel Christmas lights in the street itself.
