Reasons for trip

Relaxation

My husband describes the break as “very pink” as there were so many girlie groups, mums and daughters and even some three generation groups. However there were enough couples groups to mean we didn’t stick out like a sore thumb.

Our room was palatial with two hugh very commfortable beds. We went to explore as soon as we had settled into our room. There was a very big, elegant leisure swimming pool, a more conventional pool for serious swimming and water aerobic classes and an amazing spa centre with lots of little water and steam experience rooms. We loved the candlelit floating room.

We were impressed by the extensive gym with several attendants to help and advise.

We dressed for our three course eveing meal though several people dined in their distinctive bathrobes.

Breakfast next morning was served in our room from an extensive cold menu we choose from the night before. It was delicious but too late for us. As early risers we had been up and reading from well before seven and I think we were last for breakfast delivery at 8:30. When we go again we will ask for an early breakfast.

Our stay included two treatments each and we could choose from many. Even my husband enjoyed his first ever massage. There were also classes, activities in and out, and a chill out room for meditation. We didn’t join the running or cycling but did play croquet on the lawn.

Guests were all ages from teenage to very old. We talked to one lady, who at 90 visits several times a year. They pick her up from the station and as she said there is always someone to help her getting in and out of the pool.

A young couple with hectic jobs in London visit twice a year for a week to destress.

I thoroughly recommend the “Overnighter” that includes arrival at 2pm one day and leaving next day at 6pm and all meals and two treatments. We booked a small hotel in Melton Mowbrey for a night before heading home.

Ragdale Hall is expensive but does have bargain breaks and the level of service and pampering is amazing.
