Family holiday

We have just returned from a 2 week Mediterranean cruise on the Cunard Queen Victoria. We had a great time even though the itinerary had to be changed to remove Turkey stops. Instead we saw Greek islands (Rhodes, Volos, Santorini, Mykonos, Katakolon) as well as visiting Athens, Kotor Montenegro and Venice.

Cunard seems to have got the balance right with on-board entertainment and shopping. There is plenty going on but it isn’t hyped up to get you spending more than you want to or feeling that you have to go to the various entertainments on offer.
The best thing for us was that the Pursers Office lent us a wheel chair so that we could go out and about on port days and Dad wasn’t exhausted by the time we got from ship to town. The ship knew Dad had mobility issues and placed us in the middle section of the ship near the lifts so Dad rarely had to walk too far (except if he got lost!).

Service from the dining rooms and housekeeping was impeccable. The food was excellent quality.

We went on two tours; the Athens Acropolis and museum tour was excellent but the Volos Mountain Villages was poor value (the first village very pretty with lots of small shops and the second village a waste of time). Many of the trips were too active for my Dad but most Ports had something to see or do when you got off the ship (mostly shopping and cafes, so great for shopoholics).

There is an adults only pool and sundeck area as well as a pool and sundeck area for everyone to use. The evening entertainment was good and excellent.
I have no hesitation in recommending this cruise and Cunard.
