We made our first visit to the Roof Garden at the top of Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Hall itself being closed at present. To get to the garden, climb up the flights of yellow stairs.
At the top there is plenty of space, winding paths through the raised beds, and a small area of grass to sit on. Also a bar!
At the tables people were enjoying large jugs of Pimms, the classic summer British drink.
It is a very lovely venue to meet friends or family, in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere away from the frenetic activity on the South Bank itself. And its free.
Open 10 am to 10 pm in the spring and summer, at present.
