Reasons for trip

If you are looking for some excellent fish and chips when in the Sarnia, Ontario area, Purdy’s Dockside Eatery cannot be beat. It is actually in Point Edward, right next to Sarnia, on the St. Clair River. The fish is whatever has been caught that day – whitefish, pickerel or perch. Your view is the very blue St. Clair River, and to the right, the Bluewater Bridge over to the US.

Yesterday we had the pickerel for lunch and each had our own portion but one would easily feed two people as you get five pieces of battered fish, chips and coleslaw for $14. Place your order, stake out a picnic table along the river, and wait for your name to be called. The only drawback was fighting the wasps for our food.

They are open from May until October but only Friday and Saturday except for July and August when they are also open Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Follow the signs to the casino and drive past the casino – the road will take you around to the right to the dockside.
