If you want to stay in a comfortable cottage which has been lovingly restored and have access to excellent boat trips, beautiful beaches and historic castles – this is the place for you. Puffin Place is a recently restored and refurbished two bedroom cottage. It forms one of a few cottages which were formerly part of the Smokery in the quaint fishing town of Seahouses, Northumberland. The Smokery shop is till next door and has a reputation for selling quality seafood. The cottage has been updated with a modern sea theme. The double room is excellent and the twin which has been geared for children has been fitted with DVDs, books, games etc. However, it was a delight for us to use – perfect for retirees . Had a sofa in the room too. Everything about the cottage was well thought out. Travel guides, magazines , sea themed memorabilia and even a crab line, fishing line and net should the fancy take you ! The furniture was beautifully suited for a small cottage,. Footstools slid under the two easy chairs and the dining table allowed for folding chairs in order to create space. The kitchen had a dishwasher and washer / dryer meaning no washing to be done on the home return. The cottage had a. Private parking space in the courtyard. Easy entrance via a key left in wall safe. the code was sent before we travelled. All in all , the cottage provided everything plus more that you needed. The area was perfect. Two minutes walk and you are on the Northumberland trail. Very close to the harbour as well. We were lucky enough to take a fantastic boat trip where the name of the cottage, puffin Place, became a reality as we witnessed puffins galore. So much to see, so beautiful – complemented by the excellent choice of accommodation. Recommend highly and we shall be revisiting in October to see the baby seals.
