We wanted to take our 5-year-old grandaughter away for a few days in August 2020. The social distancing etc still applied (for those reading this months or years later) We like the quality of Premier Inns, but found this hotel on the seafront EXCEPTIONAL as far was we were concerned. I won’t go in to the detail of the room, because most will know the standard, but from our windows we could see the sea and beach and the amusements which our granddaughter loved all the coloured lights. The hotel also had FREE parking, so our car did not move all week. The food was excellent as expected which was in the attached Cookhouse Restaurant. We also fell lucky if you want to call it that, but our Monday-Wednesday meals were discounted by the government so that was an extra bonus and to top the holiday we had the best days’ sunshine during August, so our grandaughter was on the beach every afternoon. Morning were in the park or shops. The evenings were walking around seeing the sights with shops and amusements, and she was absolutely …x@xkered (tired out) every evening and so were we!
I had not been to Skegness for over 30 years and in some ways it has not changed and in others it had. The main thing is for us silver people that it is all flat, wherever you went. The gardens, lake, boating and see front promenades are lovely to walk on. The theatre was not open due to Covid-19, so no shows, but that would have been the icing on the cake. There are plenty of places to have a quiet drink and food, but we always went to the Cookhouse. There are plenty of attractions around Skegness if you wanted to travel to them. We recommend the Premier Inn Seafront as a base, and in fact we have booked in again for next year (2021) with our granddaughter, as she wants to go back.
