We arrived after a stressful drive on a very busy and slow A1 to be greeted by a welcoming, smiling receptionist who dealt with us very efficiently. We decided to try the in-house restaurant as we didn’t want to do anymore driving. What a surprise, it had a calm relaxing atmosphere and comfortable seats at the tables, not benches. We decided to try the steak and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The chips were fresh and crisp, the French beans freshly cooked and al dente and the steak was perfect. I asked for a medium cooked steak and my husband asked for rare, both were spot on and very tender.

The room was very clean and quiet, no road noise. In the morning we had breakfast and couldn’t fault it in any way. We had a choice of scrambled, fried or poached eggs along with the usual offerings of sausages, black pudding etc. there was also an excellent choice for the continental breakfast. We will definitely stay there again.
