I had to stay at this hotel at short notice when a relative was admitted to the nearby Wansbeck Hospital.
The hotel is situated in Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Woodhorn, Ashington. The hotel overlooks a lake, which has ducks and swans, the lake is surrounded by trees. It is in a nice picteresque setting.
There is a large free car park beside the hotel, There are also a number of good local taxi services. .
The staff at this hotel are fantastic, friendly, kind and so helpful, nothing is a problem to them.
My room was spotless and comfortable, I could find no fault. There is a room for disabled guests, I believe on the ground floor. I have some mobility problems and use walking sticks. However I felt I could manage the stairs to the first floor and it was worth it for the view of the lake.
My room was on the first floor, overlooking the lake. A tip I would share is ask for a room overlooking the lake. The rooms at the back of the hotel are close to a main road and I wonder if there could be noise from the road, Some of my attached photos show the view from my window.
There is a Brewers Fayre Restaraunt attached, on the ground floor., I had breakfast there two mornings and one lunch. It was very busy all three times I was in the restaurant, but I found the staff friendly and helpful to customers and I enjoyed the food.
Outside there are seats where guests can sit and a play area for children.
Nearby the hotel is the Woodhorn Museum. The castles of Northumberland such as Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth are within driving distance as well as the Northumberland Coast, market towns of Morpeth and Alnwick and is the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The hotel would make a good base for exploring Northumberland.
I would recommend this hotel.
