We visited Prague at the end of August acting as roadies for our daughter who has a job teaching in a village school just outside Prague this year. It is a fairy tale city right at the heart of Europe. It has a lot of stunning medieval architecture but also some modern buildings and a large expat community. I recommend taking a walking tour or catching the hop on hop off bus.
We stayed in the midtown between the Vlatava river and the Petrin hill and were able to reach the centre of Prague easily. We found that the cable car up the Petrin hill was free if you were over 70 and it was a very pleasant walk down with an excellent restaurant half way. The weather when we were there at the end of August was sunny and pleasantly warm. Public transport was good with a very frequent tram service. The centre of town was very lively with many street performers and pavement artists.
