I travelled alone to Sao Paulo to meet up with a friend, and found the Pousada dos Franceses in an internet search. It is a short walk away from the central Avenida Paulista, and provides budget accommodation in an expensive area of the city. The rooms are basic, but clean – it is really a hoste. There is a delicious buffet breakfast, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It is within a short walk of an airport bus stop, and also of a MacDonalds for those wanting a quick meal.
