An old hacienda has been converted into a unique hotel with tremendous character.
This is high on the hill above Yumani and a steep, hot climb from the quay. It is better to ask to be dropped off at Pilkokayna and visit the Inca ruins there first. The climb is still steep but a lot easier…. Leave your bags on the boat to be carried up to the hotel for you.
You enter the Posada through a gateway off the road and immediately step into a different world of gardens, flowers and places to sit. There are two small courtyards and rooms are arranged around these. We had a pleasant large room with an effective but noisy electric convector fire for cold evenings. Furnishings were basic but in keeping with the overall atmosphere of the place. We had two big, comfortable beds with electric blankets. There were extra blankets if needed. The bathroom had a shower but no bath. There were shutters on the windows rather than curtains.
The dining room was off the second courtyard. All meals were provided as part of our package. Breakfasts were fruit juice, eggs and large filling bread cake (excellent).
There was no choice at Lunch or dinner. There was soup, main course and desert. All freshly cooked and filling. We enjoyed all the meals we ate there.
Staff were friendly and keen to help.
The island is so quiet. There is no aircraft or traffic noise. All you hear is the sound of birds, insects and donkeys. There is no TV, mobile phone or internet…..
We loved it and were glad to have spent 2 nights here. The Posada was a delightful place to stay – as long as you are not expecting 5* luxury accommodation with all the extras which have become essential to modern travellers.
