Reasons for trip

We were in Portsmouth Quay area for a whole week with cousins from New Zealand. A multiple entry ticket which lasts a whole year allowed us to spend most days visiting the attractions at the Historic Dockyards. This proved excellent value because there was lots of things to see because our visitors had a special interest in military history and enginnering. Attractions ranged fro HMS Victory, Nelson’s flagship which you could walk around and access all areas, to ships from the recent World wars and Submarines. You could take a trip around the harbour, see workshops, have refreshments on HMS Warrior of cafes, see museums, buy souvenirs. It also housed the Marie Rose exhibition (extra cost) but well worth seeing too All were equally fascinating and educational for all ages.

It’s position was within short, flat walking distance or the transport system hub for trains, buses, ferry to the IOW, taxis and , off course, the Gunwharf Quays for shopping, restaurants and cafes, entertainment and accommodation.
