My husband and I spent a week at the Porto Bay hotel last year and found it to be excellent. Our room (a studio sea view) was perfect. It had a balcony, large bed, kitchenette, large bathroom, writing desk and beautiful sea view. There was also a safe in the room which could be rented for a returnable deposit of about 10 euros a week which we found very useful.

The breakfasts in the hotel were some of the best we have ever had in any hotel, with a large choice of both cooked and uncooked, sweet and savoury food – eggs of every variation, tomatoes, bacon, mushrooms, beans …… plus all types of fruit, cereal, fruit juices, coffee, tea, etc. Certainly enough to set one up for the day.

The staff in the reception area were helpful – some more than others – and the hotel souvenir shop was very useful and convenient with reasonable prices – unusual for an hotel in my experience. The reception staff were able to sell stamps and post mail.

We took advantage of the outdoor pool which was a pleasant temperature, which suited me as I HATE cold water. There were also plenty of tables, chairs, umbrellas, sunbeds, plus a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks. There was also an inside pool but it was closed during our stay. We did not use the indoor bar or restaurant apart from breakfasts. Neither did we use the spa although I would have liked to. The week just passed far too quickly and there wasn't time.

Another bonus was the free Internet access in the reception area although it was often difficult to get the opportunity to use it due to its popularity. I found that early in the morning was a good time.

All in all this was an excellent hotel – clean, comfortable, convenient – and in a word – delightful!!
