Polesden Lacey, now owned by the National Trust, is a house designed to the taste and fashion of a wealthy Edwardian lady who loved entertaining. I particularly liked the concealed lift to her private quarters but the lavishly embellished gold room is probably the outstanding area.
The views from around the house are beautiful and there are deck chairs on the lawns so you can sit and appreciate them.
The restaurant had a reasonable selection of fairly typical National Trust food – good quality but unexciting.
