Regular holiday

We took a recent cruise on Ventura to the Canary Islands, stopping enroute in La Coruna. To my mind this stop is a complete waste of time, there’s very little to see of interest unless you want a long coach ride to Compestella.

Stopping in Madeira ,La Palma, Gran Canaria and Tenerife was good, but you definitely need to travel away from the port to get the most out of your visit. We booked a private tour in Tenerife to properly explore Mt Teide, it was pricey but well worth the money-our guide was a local man who really brought the island to life with stories of festivals, traditions and wild life-definitely the highlight of our holiday.

My biggest disappointment was our suite on Riviera Deck, it was sold as having a partially shaded balcony, but in reality because the deck above juts out we got no sunlight until the evening. Ventura is a large, family friendly ship with several pools and several restaurants. The theatre shows were excellent, the food delicious and the staff delightful. All in all a lovely holiday. I’d read some negative reviews about Ventura, but I found none of the problems that they identified.
