Pilot Beach Resort is a 2 storey 5* hotel complex approx 1 km outside Giorgioupolis in Crete which some may consider a little remote but is really only a 20 minute walk along the beach. Service and attention to detail by staff is excellent and the private beach setting is perfect with (snowy) mountain views and crystal clear sea. Just returned (April 28th 2015) and weather was lovely most days but a bit chilly in the evening as you might expect for this time of the year. Early season so not all facilities running to full capacity and some work was being done in preparation for high season but quite low key and did not interfere with guests comfort.. Accommodation comfy, spotless and stylishly modern with good fluffy towels, bathrobes, and free slippers. Food very good and plentiful, if a little boring. Some steps to be aware of to first floor rooms from gardens. Four swimming pools, four restaurants, Spa centre, sports facilities. lots for kids to do. Use link to website for full details. Fly to Chania if possible. Iraklion is a 2+ hour journey and not recommended. My only minor complaint is the lack of real entertainment in the evening and the outrageous bar prices. eg. €3.50 for a small and not very good cup of coffee and €9 for a Rum & Coke. Not a great problem if like us you are not “Drinkers” but not everyone is the same.
Bottom Line, would we go back??? The answer must be no, but mainly because we like to go to different places rather than return to the same ones. There is nothing particular that would deter us from returning so go and enjoy.
