We have just returned from our very first visit to Benidorm. We were unsure whether we would like it as we like a fairly quiet holiday and not the typical Brits Abroad type of holiday. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the town is – or at least the parts we visited.
There are many things I can discuss and I will in other reviews but this one is dedicated to a pub called The Pig and Whistle in Benidorm’s Old Town. Yes its a British Pub but it’s quite classy with a fabulous friendly atmosphere.
We stumbled across it down one of the many alleyways. There was a thunderstorm and we were looking for shelter. There was football showing – 3 separate games – being shown on separate screens but with no commentary. There was music playing which seemed to be a playlist – the music choice was fabulous from 60’s music e.g. Del Shannon etc to Northern Soul. The bar is only small and quite dark inside. Most of the clientel were over 40’s probably more over 50’s – everyone was chatting with one eye on the football and quietly singing and tapping along to the music. When we visited there were no gangs or groups mostly couples and others on their own. The bar staff were so efficient and friendly and the drinks were served well as an example I drank Vodka ;lime and soda – the barman added a fresh lime and squeezed it using tongs into the glass and swiped it around the inside to add to the flavour, Prices were reasonable too. We only were in Benidorm for 3 nights but visited here every day for at least one drink it was such a fab place.
