After a brisk walk on Whitesands Beach just north of St. Davids in Wales we were on the hunt for one of the local farm shops to pick up some provisions for our holiday let. We had seen a few signs for farm shops when driving into St. Davids a couple of days before and headed to the closest one, Perennial Café and Farm Shop (Perennial St Davids :: Cafe). It was midafternoon when we arrived, and we had not had lunch yet. We’d had a late start on this wet and blustery day.
In mid-April the farm shop didn’t have much to offer in the way of fresh produce, but we were drawn to the lunch menu on offer so settled in to have a late lunch. I decided on the Welsh onion quiche with salad, my aunt had the egg salad sandwich, and my uncle had the tuna sandwich. All were delicious and generous servings. The teas/coffees were also welcome after our cool sojourn on the beach. Before leaving we picked up some rhubarb and ginger ice cream to take home and it was delightful. Although not certified organic, they do make every effort to have all local products with no herbicides or pesticides.
There are a few tables inside and our dogs were welcome to join us. There is also a patio outside and a garden centre by the car park. In addition to some honey and other local products, there was a wide variety of bird boxes for sale.
The café is open from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm every day. The chap who served us couldn’t have been nicer. A very happy find three miles east of St Davids on Llanrhian Road.
