I have stayed at very few B&B's that truly offer a homey welcome by the hostess/host. Mary Paterson. She has after only a few years established a regular client base who continue to return due to her warm welcome and helpful nature thus maintaining her 4 star rating.
Recently, Mary has renovated the cottage by adding a bathroom ensuite to the ground floor double bedroom. This also includes a private sitting room with access to the garden. The sitting room is well appointed and very cosy with a wood burning stove, television with BT vision and DVD and telephone.
Additional rooms on the first floor include one single bedroom plus a double bedroom with two single beds. The 2nd full bathroom access is on the ground floor.
Mary has often gone above and beyond the call of a B&B Hostess by providing rides to the popular Christian Retreat Centre Ffald-y-Brenin an 11th century Monastery close by. In addition, she has offered to add a taxi service to and from the beach, Newport town on sea and to Fishguard-Goodwick Harbor train station.
Mary provides a lovely continental or full cooked breakfast for her guests. She takes your orders the night before to ensure everyone is served well and satisfied.
Mornings you can wander in the lovely floral gardens surrounded by a babbling brook then cross over to what I refer to as her amateur arboretum where you can wander through the gardens as you enjoy a morning cuppa. These gardens are nestled under the local Mount Carningli (Mount of Angels) a favourite ascent for hill walkers.
Mary also welcomes pets if well behaved and quiet.
I am looking forward to my next visit when I will be taking my girls and having a lovely time at the beach and walking the Pressilly Hills and coastal paths over the Summer Holidays. The town of Newport is only 2 1/2 miles away.
Cost is £30 per night with £5 supplement for pets.
