Reasons for trip

This is a local park managed by Welsh Authority, Carmarthenshire County Council . It has some lovely local walks along a secluded beach and forest. There is a Beach Kiosk & Cafe.

There are several nature trails and an Orienteering course available to visitors.

It is home to a very good pony riding school with access to a second riding school for people with disabilities right outside the park at the entry way on the main road.

I enjoyed the riding school with my children. The manageress Jackie was very friendly and knowledgeable and careful to select the right horses for me and my children according to our early beginner level of ability. The trek was for 1 hour through trails in a wooded area. The guides who attend each rider are very friendly and considerate.

The park's beach is also very well appointed with shelters and BBQ Area. It also has a Caravan camping area with Caravan club site (located outside the park), bar, restaurant & function room. There is a Lifeguard patrolled bathing area from 12 May – 30th Sept.

There is also a Parent & Baby room near main beach access. Disabled toilets at beach access, and restaurant and Disabled Beach Platform and Viewpoint Car Park. Also, a Beamer Tramper for free hire by the less mobile (required pre-booking).

There is also a booking service for guided walks/talks for Schools and other groups or for private groups with the Ranger Service.

Other activities include: Proposed Hill Roling Activity, 130 meter Dry Ski Slope & The longest Toboggan Ride in Wales, Cycle Hire, 9-Hole Pitch & Putt, Crazy Golf, Play Area, Miniature Railway, Conservation Area (Pembrey Saltings, Site of Scientific Interest), & as mentioned the Equestrian Centre.

There are NO FIRES OR BBQ'S allowed on beach or in dunes or in woodland areas.

Dogs are not allowed on the main beach from 1 May – 30th Sep, but follow dogs for the beach signs. No dogs are allowed in the Play Area. Dogs waste bins are provided.

There is also a Landyacht & parakart activity zone West of the Bach access.

Unfortunately, due to vandalism the tree tops High Ropes Tree Tops Adventure Trail is now dismantled and closed down.

The park is located at SAT NAV: SA16 0EJ. and can be reached by the Sustrans National Cycle Network connecting Kidwelly & Burry Port and the A484 Pembrey.

The Celtic Cycling Trail passes close to Pembrey Country park. It forms route 4 of the Sustrans National Cycle Network. Info Hotline is 0800 243731.

There is a bus service with a stop 2 km from the park entrance served by First Cymru service X12. Call 0870 6082608.
