This is a very popular restaurant opposite the newly-refurbished DB San Antonio hotel jus along from Bugibba bus station. Go down a couple of steps, and the restaurant goes back from the road in traditional decorative style. It is very comfortable, and staff are very helpful if you are not sure what you want to eat, but they also remember customers who have visited before.
We decided on the Set Menu (B) at €20 each as it gives a very varied selection of dishes, especially if you are new to Chinese/Oriental food. Soup to start, typical thin chicken and sweetcorn and a thin chicken broth, then the starter with four different pieces each, lots of different textures so an interesting selection. The main course was again four dishes – noodles, mixed vegetables, sweet and sour pork balls plus satay chicken.
My goodness, what a lot of food! Very tasty, beautifully cooked and a great mixture of tastes especially the mixed vegetables which can sometimes be a bit watery. There was no way we could eat all of this, so the waiter brought four take-away cartons and filled them for us to take home later. Perfect, though something not so common in the UK now, and it made our meal the next day with no ill-effects. We made a valiant effort with a dessert, but only managed half of each portion.
This is extremely good value and a chance to try out several different dishes without having to make an uninformed choice. The house white wine was recommended to go with our menu choice and was an acceptable €8.50. We would visit again, and it was recommended by several people so good to know it is reliable.
