Full marks to Pedn Olva and their parent company St. Austell Breweries. We originally booked for June, when things went south we were immediately offered a refund of our deposit. We declined and asked for the deposit to be kept against a holiday later in the year. We eventually got rebooked for the first two weeks in September. Pedn Olva briefed us on the changes and restrictions caused by Covid. We had been in full self isolation (age and medical) so were a little apprehensive. No problem for this hotel. One way systems, social distancing, table service only; everything to make you feel safe and comfortable. One member of staff buzzing round like the proverbial “Blue Fly” to ensure orders were taken quickly and efficiently. The menu, as forewarned was much smaller than is the norm here but the quality was still superb, especially the breakfast. We barely noticed the missing buffet. Having been before, we did not think the staff could work any harder, we were wrong. They were almost heroic. It is a wonderful thing to be made to feel that you are the most important guest they will ever have and that they genuinely love to see you back. It is impossible not to get personally close to them. The rooms are all on the seaward side and the views are extraordinary. The roof terraces are perfect for enjoying them and the sun which shone hot and bright for two weeks. Perfect holiday.
