Reasons for trip

We spent 11 nights at the Paradisus resort in Cuba in February. This is a a Melia hotel (Melia group are Spanish) and is a 5 star resort. Cuba suffers from a lack of robust infrastructure and a trade embargo from the USA. Despite this, the resort was amazing. The buffet restaurant had no shortage of food with many different chefs cooking steak or fish to order, omelettes for breakfast etc. There are also 4 different a la carte restaurants that are part of the all inclusive package- I can highly recommend all of them. They are in beautiful surroundings as is the resort. The hotel beach had the whitest sand with turquoise sea. The staff were superb. The rooms were very large and spacey. The staff arrange a wide entertainment package with local walks visits to a Bio centre, entertainment every night. It is ideally suited to either young honeymooners or couples who are middle aged or older with no children (like us, or rather ours are adults now). It was a very relaxing holiday and I would definitely go back there.
