We like Paignton Zoo, especially as our granddaughters live near there and they enjoy visiting the various animals they have there. So much so that we recently invested in an annual pass for ourselves and the two of them, with the main intent of picking them up on a school day in summer (around 3.15pm) and going straight to the zoo for the final two hours of the day, with tea in the restaurant included.
The zoo website states that the restaurant is open until 30 minutes before the zoo closing time, which is 6pm. Imagine our disappointment to arrive for tea and discover that they were in fact only open until 3.30pm. No hot food available! Crisps and biscuits for tea! Very healthy….
We now feel our idea of quick summer afternoon visits has been ruined, as may the idea – and the cost – of having the annual pass. The zoo’s great – but the restaurant provision is definitely not!
