3 Generations of us enjoyed a day cruise from Lower Heyford. There were 8 of us in total (max is 10) ranging from 8 to 66. After some instruction we started off towards Oxford at a leisurely pace. The 2 young boys were keen to work the locks and also had a turn steering under supervision. It was very quiet on the canal and we felt miles away from everything with no sense of where we were.We cooked breakfast onboard in the well equipped galley kitchen. We stopped off at The Rock of Gibraltar pub for a drink and soon turned round to make our way back to Lower Heyford. At times the boys ran alongside us on the towpath picking blackberries.
I would recommend this company to anyone. We had a wonderful fun but relaxing day and will be hiring a boat again soon. As well as day trips one can take a boat for a week or just a weekend.”Oxfordshire Narrow Boats”:http://www.oxfordshire-narrowboats.co.uk/
A couple of members of the party need to be fit enough to work the locks but otherwise anybody can enjoy this attraction.
