We chose to stop off in Dubai on our way to India and opted for the small but charming Orient Guest House in Bastakiya – the Heritage area of old Dubai near the Museum and bigger sister hotel, the Arab Courtyard where you can use the facilities including pool. Set around its own small courtyard you can enjoy a peaceful introduction to the city before being blown away by the spectacular modern city not too far away. Walk down to the creek and hop over the water on the Abra to the souks or sail along the river and enjoy life on the water. There are plenty of good cafes and restaurants within easy walk or visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. The staff at the Orient are happy to please and make your stay comfortable and relaxing.
