Reasons for trip

Every week-end in September in Wales is an Open Door Day in a different place. We visited Llangollen 17-18th September 2011 to enjoy the week-end visiting Minerva Lead Mine near World's End above Llangollen, the beautiful Churches in Llangollen (one with a fabulous wooden roof), discovering how the water is pumped from the river to the Canal, exploring Valle Crucis Abbey and taking a tour of Tyn Dwr Hall. All the visits are free and you can also combine it with some lovely walking along the Canal, over the famous viaduct, and walking Offa's Dyke Way up to World's End (which is a remote high grouse moor with the heather in bloom when we visited).
