We had a very enjoyable viisit to Old Town, Kissimmee, during a recent holiday. We've visited the attraction before – and never seen it so quiet (due, presumably, to the lack of spending money from US residents?)
Situated on Highway 192 'Irlo Bronson Highway' – where there are lots of condo/hotels, as Walt Disney World is just 15 minutes drive away – the Old Town is a nice place to walk, shop and eat – even if you're not into the 'rides'.
Shops open at 10am, and most rides/eateries at 12 noon. Occasional drive-in 'cruises' – including 'clasic car' events.
For the inclided, there's the usual heart-stopping selection of rides, as well as kiddies rides at the far end of the main street.
Shops include the 'General Store' and, and very recent addition 'Word on the Street' – where a young photographer is selling his own unique photo 'word' pictures (which you 'build' yourself into the word of your choice, using his huge selection of 'alphabet' photos).
Strolling along the boardwalk to the 50's 60's and 70's music allowed us to have a few hours of relaxation, whilst the ladies shopped and I just enjoyed the warmth and music.
Hopefully the economy will pick-up soon so that this type of attraction will again get the number of visitors it deserves.
