We were guests at a wedding at Ocean Kave. This is a man-made cave set in 60 acres within an AONB. The view across the Bristol Channel towards Lundy is superb.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. The ceremony in the cave was thoughtfully conducted by the Assistant Chief Registrar of Devon. We then enjoyed canapes and sparkling wine in the sunshine prior to walking a hundred yards or so to the Sunset Rooms for the wedding breakfast. We, like most guests chose roast Devon beef with all the trimmings as a main course. The beef was a little over cooked to my taste but there was plenty of it. Nonetheless it was a welcome improvement on “rubber chicken” that often appears at such meals. Wine, both with the meal and for the toasts was pleasant and plentiful.
There then followed a disco. Some danced, others talked and many went out into the grounds to enjoy the sunshine. A good number walked through the grounds to the sea shore and Mermaids’ Pool.
Altogther we enjoyed an excellent wedding in a delightful setting.
