We booked this hotel on a last minute deal and weren’t dissappointed. Beautiful setting in it’s own grounds and very inviting entrance hall. It had recently been refurbshed and we were in one of the new rooms. I must admit considering the walls and doors were thick we were aware of the people running water and talking in the adjoining bathroom. It was muffled and didn’t particularly bother us but we were surprised.
The room was large and extrememly comfortable with lovely furnishings and fittings and considering there was a wedding party in the hotel we heard nothing from it.
The restaurant was large and the staff were lovely and very attentive. The food was exceptional and we were entertained by a piano player who took requests and was willing to give anything a go playing everything by ear as he had no music. We were very impressed.
We had a lovely day out at Wisley which was close by but if you don’t want to eat in at the hotel it’s quite a walk to find a decent eatery. There is a pub at the bottom of the driveway but it is pub that serves food rather than a gastro pub. We did find a wonderful Indian restaurant in the village but it was a 25-30 minute walk.
Don’t know what a normaly rate would be but certainly felt that we had value for money on our last minute deal.
