O’ Solo Mio … tucked into the corner of a small square at the western end of Corso Italia – this small family run restaurant offers genuine, local, freshly cooked food. Shared a house starter of buffalo mozzarella and ham. M then had a secondo of grilled mixed fish (see photo) Sorrento style – very tasty and a real bargain for this level of dish – with a really good side salad (dressing we think was olive oil and lemon – what else for this part of Italy?) … I enjoyed my escalope (also with a good oiling) and fries. Washed down with a bottle of Vesuvio rosso. Euro 59 for the lot was very reasonable – and enthusiastic service and attention throughout.
Returned the following evening, when M had the seafood risotto, and I had the fried shrimp and calamari, with a bottle of the house red.
It’s recommended, on a visit to Sorrento, to eat at one of the fish restaurants down by the Marina Grande (fishing port) but the weather wasn’t favourable to al flesco dining, and I doubt their fish would have been any better than this!
The restaurant seems to be on two floors but, at this time of year, only the ground floor seemed to be in use – with the hams behind the counter and the pizza oven area in sight.
