Although this pub is on the Main Street going through Montrose, it would be quite easy to miss as the entrance is very unassuming. For my sister and brother in law, it’s their local and arrest favourite for bar meals, especially in the evening.
Access is through the main bar area (watch out if it’s a darts night!) but there are tables at the back, including a lower area which is away from the bar activity. Tables can be reserved which is advisable group is large, because it’s a popular place to eat.
The menu is what you would expect – steak pie, fish and chips, scampi, curry, burgers etc plus (my sister’s favourite) macaroni cheese. The food is cooked to order, but we’ve never had to wait for long. Portions are very generous and the prices are reasonable too. There is also a children’s menu.
We’ve always been too full to have a dessert!
The staff are very friendly and cheerful, with the right level of attentiveness.
The bar is wheelchair accessible and there is a disabled toilet.
Some nights there’s live music, so probably best to check before booking. There is also free wifi.
