We had a very filling and delicious lunch at “No. 1”:http://www.no1highstreetedinburgh.co.uk/ pub in Edinburgh. It is on the corners of Jeffrey Street, High Street, the Royal Mile and St. Mary’s St. – a typical old pub full of wood and brass. We sat in the first booth on the right as you enter the door.
Two of us had the roast pork dinner special with roast potatoes and vegetables (£9.95) and two of us had the burger and chips with a lovely salsa dip (£10.95). The servings were large – so large we were not sure we would be able to finish them! The two could easily have shared one roast dinner. However, it was towards mid-afternoon and the meal filled us up for the rest of the day and we did not need dinner, just coffee and cake before catching our return train home.
The service was prompt, efficient and friendly. As it was later in the day, the lunch rush was over but there were still a few other patrons also having a meal. Everything that we saw being served looked lovely.
