Stayed just one night, arriving late and leaving early. therefore this is a rather limited review.
The hotel is a long way from Southampton and is much used for conferences. Parking was very hard to find and a long way from the room. We were on the first floor with no lift, ground floor rooms might be more disabled friendly. No help offered with luggage, other than to suggest we unload outside the building. I had to ask at reception for the key to the second room and once I said we’d be leaving early and wouldn’t take breakfast the attitude was rather off-hand.
Room had partial sloping attic type ceiling. Window was open but it was hot, we had to sleep with the window open. Fortunately it was quiet until some delivery in the morning and we were already up as we left early. Toiletries were adequate (single tube) but not impressive. Soap was gritty, personally I hate bits in my soap. Bed was comfortable but tended to move around easily. Old fashioned room keys, 55 pounds if you lost it. Black furniture, tea making items hidden in cupboard. Wired internet access available and reasonable speed, I was given the code at reception.
Swimming pool closed at 10 and we didn’t expect to be up early enough to use it – I was but would have had to request a code. We had been asked if we wanted the code but not given it automatically. Looking through the door it seemed a good size and had a gym.
Impressive looking grounds – we saw too much of them walking to the car because of the inadequate parking. No sign of the promised archery butt.
Would return if available at a reduced cost since it was quiet and had a decent looking pool.
