I won via Silver Trip Advisor a day experience at New Forest Activities and we decided to do archery in the morning, and use bikes in the afternoon. It was great fun. The archery was on a farm in Beaulieu with a view down to the river. You could have taken activities such as canoeing or kayaking on the Beaulieu river which goes down to Buckler’s Hard, but being non swimmer I decided against that activity! The archery was made fun for the 8 of us on the course, as we started near the targets, and then we were moved further away from the target as we progressed in the morning, and finally had almost impossible targets to hit like a wooden boar target or even a mouse! The children on the course have smaller bows to use, and the men used the biggest bows!
In the afternoon it was great to cycle down a good track to Buckler’s Hard, and explore the Maritime Museum which includes a Chapel and Shipwright’s Cottage, plus you can eat at the café or in the New Inn. We did not have time to take the river cruise from Buckler’s Hard so wish to go back to that in the future. The bikes are rented with repair kits, maps if you wish and helmets of course, but the cycle track to Buckler’s Hard is the only one that does not involve cycling on the roads. We found the bike seats a bit hard but that was probably because we have not been on a bike for a while. The donkeys were wandering around Beaulieu so it was a lovely location to cycle in, with views over the river.
I would recommend trying out the New Forest Activities and you can be more adventurous than we were.
