York's Railway Museum is a fantastic way to spend a few hours in York. There is lots to see, for every member of the family. Mum and Grandma will enjoy a meal or just a cuppa in the cafes, Dad will love exploring the many engines and trains, and visiting the engine works upstairs. Kids of all ages can go on the miniature railway, climb on the trains, have a ride in the simulator, or explore the sheds, where there are many activities for them to do. The museum attracts thousands of visitors every year. My family have been many times – there is always something new to see, and do. When we went a couple of years ago, The Railway Children was being performed on a platform, complete with a real Engine. This play has since gone to London. York has many great attractions, but the Railway Museum is a wonderful day out – and it's free!
