Relaxation

If your setting out on a journey across Europe an overnight stay just over the Channel in France is often welcomed. I can think of nowhere better than the Chateau Hotel Clery in Hesdin l'Abbe some 35 minutes drive south from Calais. Set in its own parkland style gardens the hotel offers a tranquil setting.. Take a drink in the gardens and watch squirrels scampering across the lawns whilst ducks waddle from the grassed areas the woodland pond. The bedrooms are well equipped with large comfortable beds offering a peaceful and restful night. Drinks in the bar are a little expensive but the restaurant serving meals from 28 euros is of the highest standard and well worth the money. Wine is reasonably priced and a good selection is available. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English which is not surprising having regard to the hotels popularity with the English. Accommodation starts at circa 85 euros although there are more expensive suites available. Booking ahead is essential as the hotel is very popular. Less expensive accommodation can be found but if you want a night to remember for all the right reasons then you will not regret that little extra.
