I stayed in a studio a few minutes from the beach in Kalafatis. My accommodation was a few minutes from the beach, has a lovely pool and the hosts, Maria and her father could not do enough to make my stay enjoyable. I booked this through Airbnb.
This is an ideal place for someone who loves the sea. It’s great for windsurfing or just chilling on the beach. For those who want a bit more comfort, there is an excellent hotel that has an enormous pool and loads of relaxation areas, a bar and a couple of good restaurants.
Within a short walking distance there are some excellent restaurants that offer Greek, Italian and Farm to table cuisine.
For me the benefit of staying here was that there is enough to do without the hum-drum of a busy place in the evening but also the local bus company runs a service into the Old Port of Mykonos and connections from there to anywhere in Mykonos. There are also boat trips and tours available from the port to historic sites such as Delos. Ferries to other islands and even as far afield as Athens run from the New Port that is only a few minutes away by bus.
I stayed for 19 days and wished I had stayed longer when I returned home to rain, rain and more rain! There was no rain in Greece.
