“A cruise around the British Isles”:https://www.theplatinumline.blog/a-cruise-around-the-british-isles/
This is a short post I wrote about a recent cruise we went on with CMV cruises from Bristol aboard the Marco Polo. It was my first experience of cruising and I was not sure what to expect. I had felt that cruising might be for “the newly wed and the nearly dead”. However I thoroughly enjoyed it and found plenty to do. I especially enjoyed visiting the Scottish Islands for the first time and a tour round the Abbey Gardens on Tresco by a retired gardener.
Our fellow passengers were mainly elderly (the eldest I met was 99) and some had limited mobility. Unfortunately this meant they were unable to land at some ports where a tender was used and it was necessary to get down some steps into a lifeboat. My husband who is 78 managed it easily but it is something to consider if you have sight or mobility problems. Activities such as films were provided for those passengers forced to stay on board. Most of the ship was wheelchair accessible.
I thought the cruise and the excursions were very good value. Cash is not used on board so you need to watch your bar bill to avoid a surprise at the end. We took full advantage of the free coffee provided in the bistro. The entertainment was of a high standard with several of the performers having been trained in eastern Europe.
The ship was spotlessly clean and was constantly being maintained and cleaned.
