Having just returned from a holiday in Bavaria, I wanted to mention how convenient it is to fly into Munich airport. It is well laid out, has plenty of facilities, and at Christmas there was even an outdoor ice skating rink! From Munich there are good road or train connections to get to numerous destinations. Definitely not to be overlooked.
