Mount Falcon Resort is set in beautiful grounds, with woods and a lake. There is a beautiful hotel, and lakeside lodges to hire. We stayed in the hotel last year, but this time stayed in a lodge with our son, daughter in law, and their baby. The lodge was very well equipped, with three ensuite bedrooms, nice kitchen and lounge, and outside sitting area. The hotel and swimming pool is a few minutes walk away. You can eat in their upmarket restaurant, or in the bar. The swimming pool is free to guests. There is fishing at the lake but my son, a keen angler, was a little disappointed this year, as the trout were being fed bread by children and could almost have been picked out of the lake by hand. Nearby is the small town of Ballina. It has a good range of shops and is nice to look around. We treated ourselves to dinner at nearby Belleek Castle. It was fantastic! We had the tasting menu and each course was delicious. Our steaks were served on a sword, and with flames! You've got to see it to believe it. This part of Ireland is beautiful. I think we will go back there year after year.
